My first post here at Enlightened Business. Before I go pontificating and spending tons of time putting up content, I thought I'd first address this question: Is Ning search engine friendly? I've found that several Ning users have made requests for the capability to customize post titles other SEO factors. Here's what Mackenzie says in response: "SEO is Search Engine Optimization, a strategy to increase a site's relevance :). Our SEO project will hopefully improve the indexing of your networks and content by search engines. It's a big undertaking, but something that we know is really important to a lot of our Network Creators." - - - An undertaking? Oh yes. Miles and miles to go to catch up with wordpress, for example. These days there are more places to distribute content online than ever before. Many quickly become SEO backalleys; for the 'spammy' SEOs, these destinations are a merely places to serve adds, recycle useless content and obtain backlinks. Given the fact that Ning is such a new platform, and because they'll need to address search engine friendliness in order to be competitive, I predict we'll see SEOs signing up for, and creating their own Ning networks in big numbers. More posts coming soon, to accompany the web launch at http://www.bizdevmarketing.com/ SEO experiment: How relevant are backlinks from Ning networks, and to what degree does the subject matter impact this relevance? (Note above link) Is Google in particular less apt to return subdomain on SERP?
